VN photographers win top prizes for SEA Games shots .
Photographer Du Hai won his own version of a SEA Games gold medal after he took out the top prize at a photography contest celebrating Southeast Asia’s biggest sporting event.
Hai, a photojournalist at The Thao Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh (HCM City Sport) newspaper, won the first prize, worth VND17.5 million (US$1, 150), in the Moments of SEA Games photo competition for his picture Clearing the Blockage.
"Like my colleagues, I was very excited to cover such a big sport event like SEA Games and I am so happy my work resulted in this honour, " said Hai at Tuesday’s award ceremony in Ha Noi.
A book featuring the winning SEA Games images will also be published next year.

The South East Asian Games were known as the South East Asian Peninsular Games until 1975 when the SEAP Games Federation accepted Indonesia and the Philippines as members.
The name was then changed to South East Asian Games.
The South East Asian Games intention is to rotate the hosts alphabetically by nation name which removes the politics of bidding for the games, and allows the host countries ample time to plan for their turn at the games..

SECURITY measures and protocols for the 23rd Southeast Asian Games, which the Philippines will host for two weeks, will be strictly enforced, the Philippine National Police said Saturday.
“Preparation phase [for the SEA Games] has been going on since May and this will last until November 16, the activation period starting on November 15, ” Bataoil said in a text message.
The PNP Sea Games Task Force, working with other government agencies, will set up a Tactical Operations Center that will integrate and coordinate security tasks.
Police Regional offices in five regions where the events will be held have been ordered to form subtask groups, which are to work under the supervision of Task Force Sea Games.
The PNP will begin its full operational phase for SEA Games security on November 22.
This involves sustained covert and overt security operations and intelligence and counterintelligence and coordination with other government agencies involved in the holding of the Games..
