SeaFrance Revamps Reservations With Tailor-Made System
SeaFrance, which ferries millions of passengers annually between Calais and Dover, needed a new reservation system that would keep pace with its thriving business.
In addition, SeaFrance had already remodeled its information system for freight.
The time was right to focus on its tourism information system, and SeaFrance turned to CSC for a complete overhaul.
“The reservation system functioned well, but its management started to become delicate when Internet sales appeared, ” explains Jean Deswarte, data processor in charge of the tourism field at SeaFrance.
The reservation overhaul, called Seapax, was launched in 2004.
The new reservation system had to be accessible not only to SeaFrance — via its call centers, its agencies, ports, or the Internet — but also to its partners: networks of travel agencies and SeaFrance’s representatives outside of France.
Seapax had to be able to manage not only reservations but also the availability of ships, commercial facilities, and embarkation controls.
CSC was selected for the project because of its experience in tourist transport and reservation systems and its previous work with clients such as Air France and Club Med.
