Still going: Broadcaster Rex Hunt will call his 1500th game of football this weekend in round three.
Peterson rang Hunt, who at the time was looked upon as a somewhat eccentric fishing broadcaster on the same station, to find out if he was staying or going.
The Big H, as Beitzel was known, phoned Hunt to gauge the fisherman's interest in making a similar move.

Unfortunately the man to step aside for me was Bill Jacobs, who didn't take it well, " Hunt said yesterday.
"I then got a job hosting Fishing Sportsworld on 3DB and from that the program director, Stan Rolfe, asked me to call alongside Mike Williamson.
"I did not get an invite and was out on the street but fishing helped me out again through a Friday night show that went well on 3AW.
But it was not as a football caller as I had assumed, it was to host a fishing show.
Hunt, who tomorrow calls his 1500th game of football on Melbourne radio, tried to get his head around the fact that the thing he wanted to do most was no longer an option.
