Children\'s book reviews -- board book *Rainbow Fish Opposites/El Pez Arco Iris Opuestos [bilingual]* by Marcus Pfister - Curled Up With A Good Kid\'s Book
The spunky little Rainbow Fish has long been a childhood favorite, his glistening scales accenting his adventures.
As usual, the images are striking, washes of blue and green, the occasional bright orange of a seahorse, whales, dolphins and, of course, the sparkling Rainbow Fish (give- dar ; take- recibir ; alone- solo ; together- accompanado ), the perfect first book for a curious child..

Rainbow Fish - Other Lesson Plan, Thematic Unit, Activity, Worksheet, or Teaching Idea
Procedure: I always read Rainbow Fish the first day of school to discuss sharing and getting along with others.
Students do an art activity making their own Rainbow Fish using colored sequins for the fins.
I have parts of the story written on small fish and students sequence the events in teams/whole group..
I also give each student an individual bag of the colored Goldfish crackers.
They estimate how many crackers they think they have, count by 1's 2's 5's, sort by color, and graph their crackers and lastly, enjoy their snack! Depending on the level of your students, they could also make up their own word problems such as 'Three fish swimming together and two more joined in.
How many fish were swimming?' E-Mail Renee England ! .
ArtLanguageArtsCreativeMovementK3 Art Lesson Plan, Thematic Unit, Activity, Worksheet, or Artistic Teaching Idea
Assign characters to each child (one rainbow fish, one starfish, one octopus, one little blue fish and all others will be fish).
Hand out props: silver scales to rainbow fish and streamers to everyone else.
Remind them that fish do not talk, do not bump into each other, nor do they run! They must however keep 'swimming' at all times.
Follow-up lesson: Draw fish in geometric shapes with crayons on 12x18 white paper and paint with watercolor wash..
