Higo Blog: Impossible Fish Tank
Higo Blog « Yufuin Taco Truck | Main | Puppy blogging » August 14, 2006 Impossible Fish Tank I don't know how this fish tank works exactly, but from what I could understand, the tank on top that joins the adjacent tanks works as a vacuum.
The fish were swimming between the side tanks over the tunnel.
The smarter fish would swim across to the side where we were giving them shrimp..
These are all fish that you can find off of the coast of Oita..
Not the most coordinated fish in the tank....
This rockfish was by far the most tenacious fish in the tank.
He boxed out all of the other fish, until he had his fill..
The squirrel fish was a bit harder to lure out..
A trigger fish takes his time, and grazes on a shrimp buffet..
Puffers, box fish, and cowfish all make me happy for some reason.
They're such goofy fish, and tough to boot..
Comments incredible!!! is that the same marine centre that houses the sunfish???.
Posted by: slurp! at August 15, 2006 5:44 PM Yeah, this tank is in the Oita Marine Center, along with the sea turtles and sunfish.

Other books may start off well, but tend to get skimpy on the things you really need to know and then focus too much on things that, at the moment, you don't need to know, such as page after page on various species of fish.
The second half of the book is on selecting fish and taking care of them.
In the section showing the various species of fish, it also tells what suitable tank mates could go with the fish.
Lastly it goes into feeding and maintaining the tank along with a section on fish diseases and how to treat them.
I've been keeping marine tanks with very mixed results off and on for the past thirty years.
'Live rock, ah you don't need it, ' said most of the 'knowledgeable' local fish stores.

There are quite a few types of fish that have a tendency to jump out of their fish tanks.
and a lingering childhood trauma for me...I had fish tank next to my bed and my Dad brought home some new little fish for my tank, I don't know what kind they were but they kept jumping out of the tank as well.
They were tiny little fish so I just put a sheet of paper on top of the tank to keep them in.
I guess in the middle of the night the paper slid off because I woke up with lots of tiny dead fish smushed in my bed.
