375 A pen can be small or large depending on how many fish you want to raise..
380 The openings in the material that you use to fence in a pen must be small enough to keep the smaller fish from getting out..
This is the right size to keep in the smaller fish and also to let fresh water flow through..
388 If you use a fishing net drive in the posts 2 metres apart..
389 If you use fishing net for the fence tie the edge-line of the net to the top of the posts using strong cord..
396 Then remove the unwanted fish, crabs or other water life in the pen.
397 Now you are ready to stock your pen with baby fish..
398 If you are raising Tilapia nilotica you will need to put in two baby fish for each square metre of pen.
So, if you have built a small pen of 100 square metres you will need 200 baby fish..
399 The baby fish that you use should be at least 8 to 10 centimetres long or weigh about 15 to 20 grams each..
Note: If you need any help or want to raise a different kind of fish, your extension agent or fishery officer will be able to give you good advice..
400 Just before you put the baby fish in your pen, be sure that the water they are in is not hotter or colder than the water in the pen..
Amateur Fishkeeper: Baby Fish! by Dave Sandborg livebearer, breeding, amateur fishkeeper | Gather
It is easy for me to miscount some of my other species of fish, but it is essentially impossible to misplace a platy.
They are also relatively large fish that don't have a tendency to hide, so when one of the orange platys was missing I was upset..
I spotted a baby fish, the first baby ever to be born in my tank.
If any of my fish ever were to breed, it was going to be the platys.
They are known to be pretty prolific fish.
In fact, if anything he seemed to be chasing other species of fish amorously.
If they are to survive they must find enough food to grow to a size where they cannot be a casual mouthful for some other fish..
I'm very happy that some of my fish are spawning, even if they're the easiest ones to breed.
It's an indication that I have healthy fish, and it'll be fun to watch them grow.

The Biddy Baby Cocktail is one of the most important tricks we have come up with in the last couple of years.
Some fishes, Morgunda morgunda for example can grow at rates that create fish of such differing sizes you would swear the batch of siblings you were looking at were parent(s) and fry...1/2 inch and 2 inches in the same batch.
The Biddy Baby Cocktail concept came about while feeding three different foods to one batch of fry (gudgeon larvae to be exact).
After the fish reach the 1/2 inch stage the Cocktail advantages seem to work themselves out and we feed the young fish as we would the adults.
Once the fry have reached the size where they can take Grindal worms, we gradually wean them from the cocktail concept and rely on the Grindal worms as the staple food with extra Baby Brine Shrimp tossed in when there is extra.

Baby Fish class will be taught on Tuesdays.
BABY FISH: Baby Fish is the first level of swim instruction, and parents are required to be in he water with their children.
WHITE FISH I: This level is designed for children who have never had swim lessons before and are generally afraid of the water.
The purpose of White Fish I is to help children understand safety around the water and to build their comfort level in the water.
WHITE FISH II: Children in the White Fish II class must be able to successfully perform all the skills required to exit the White Fish I class.
Generally, students in this class will be more comfortable in the water than White Fish I students, but they may still retain some apprehension.
Apprehension in the water should be totally relieved for the student to progress to Red Fish.
White Fish II continue learning basic water skills, and they should be able to perform the skills with support of the teacher.
Suggested age for White Fish II is 5 years and older.
RED FISH: In order to progress to the Red Fish class, a student must have successfully completed both White Fish I and II or be able to successfully perform all the required skills of the earlier classes.
